CELTIC, Southern Gaul. Uncertain tribe. Circa 2nd century BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.93 g), imitating Rhode. Celticized head of Persephone to left, wearing wreath of grain leaves and triple pendant earring. Rev. Wheel of four spokes. Flesche -. LT pl. VIII, Ch. Robert (A). SLM -. Extremely rare. Darkly toned, very well preserved example and of great interest. The obverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, extremely fine.

This extremely rare drachm is of particular interest, as the rose of Rhode here has devolved into a plain wheel of four spokes.
